Inbound marketing is one of the most rewarding strategies if done properly. It aims to guide consumers along the customer journey, using carefully planned and crafted content at every touch point. To succeed with an inbound strategy, there are a few simple Do’s and Don’ts to take to mind. Here are the main 6.

Do…

… use Search Engine Optimization & Search Engine Marketing to maximise your presence. It helps consumers find you and makes for a smooth entry to the buyer’s journey.

Don’t…

… spray aimless content all over. Make sure you have a mapped out the customer’s journey and have a full understanding of every touch-point. Every piece of content should have a purpose depending on what stage of the journey it tends to.

Do…

… research your target audience. By collecting data & knowing your customers behaviour, preferences, opinions and emotional buttons makes for a much more accurate execution.

Don’t…

… make generic content. Now that you have all that knowledge about your target audience, use it to make content that your audience would like. Personalized content is a much more effective way of leading consumer through the funnel.

Do…

… include a proper Call To Action (CTA’s). Without it, consumers won’t know what you want them to do. With it, your conversion rate will increase and you are more likely to reach a desired outcome.

Don’t…

… stop at conversion. The journey doesn’t stop after you’ve made your sale. You want the consumers to come back and even tell others about their great experience with you. Continue to build on the relationship by feeding them more useful content.

With today’s wide range of channels & platforms, content is an all the more important asset. It also makes inbound marketing one of the most relevant strategies. To many marketers, it might even be the missing piece.
